This is a bare block for a Honda EB1 or EB2 engine, ready for a build project.  This is a bare block, meaning no internal engine parts are present other than the crank bearing caps.  This engine has been professionally remanufactured by Topline Automotive Engineering.  The block has been sleeved with 70mm bores (making it compatible with the 1169cc EB1 engine, found in first generation (1973-1974) Honda Civic Base models).  It can be bored to 72mm (making it compatible with the 1237cc EB2 engine, found in 1974-1979 Civic 1200 models).

 

Engine applications and block preparation:

  • If used as an EB1 application the existing bores will need to be polished / honed to remove some surface/flash rust prior to assembly.
  • If used as an EB2 application the bores should be increased to 72mm to accommodate the larger pistons found in the EB2 engine.

 

This engine is correct for the applications shown in the compatibility chart.
