Remanufactured bare block for 1977-1980 VW Rabbit, Dasher w/ 1.5L CK diesel engine 068103021 FB-068

This is a bare block for a Volkswagen CK engine, ready for a build project.  This is for 1977-1980 VW Rabbit and Dasher models equipped with a 1.5L 1471cc 90.9cid diesel engine.  The block casting number is 068103021. This is a bare block, meaning no internal engine parts are present other than the crank bearing caps.  This engine has been professionally remanufactured by Topline Automotive Engineering.  The block has been bored and new freeze plugs installed.

Engine Block Preparation

This engine block underwent remanufacturing over 20 years ago, and has been in long term storage ever since.  Please bear this in mind when considering the following:

1. This engine came to us without specifications as to the bores.  It will therefore be necessary to measure the bores precisely in order to determine the correct piston/ring sets to use.
2. This is an iron block, and some surface corrosion appears on the exposed metal parts such as the cylinder head mating surface and possibly the cylinder bores.  This corrosion (if present) must be removed using a non abrasive pad (such as a Scotchbrite pad) prior to assembly.
3. When removing the engine from its shipping packaging the buyer should expect rust flakes to drop from the coolant passages inside the block.  We recommend blowing the coolant passages out with an air hose to remove as much surface rust as possible prior to assembly.
